Digital Speaker Module
Digital Speaker Module (DSM) is a module that includes all electrical and passive components, acoustic components and the latest SoundWire interface required for audio playback. Existing audio ICs can not be connected directly to host processors in PC applications, but DSM can connect with host processors through SoundWire without any other ICs. It is difficult using standard micro speakers to balance the sound tuning and speaker protection. Trigence uses innovative signal processing (DTSC, Over Excursion Control, Voice Coil Temperature Detection and Control) built into the DSM, which contributes to reduce development time and effort, and improve sound quality in new productdesigns.

Benefit
-
Easy Connection by Latest Audio Interface
DSM supports SoundWire for PC audio, which is 2 wire bidirectional interface specified by MIPI, which can support multi-channel playback and digital microphone input. DSM enables echo cancelation and wakeup-vice without complex hardware design.
-
Saving Development Cost
DSM saves cost of hardware and software design, since it includes all electronic parts, acoustic parts and many functions required for PC audio playback, and can be used simply by connecting to the host processor via FPC. Further standard device driver necessary for Windows PC will be provided without cost.
-
Better Sound Quality and Loudness
DSM includes low power audio DSP with rich algorithm of sound improvement and speaker protection, and can provide maximum 5W audio power to the micro speaker.
Trigence IDF Presentation, 8th Apr. 2015- English Slides
Digital Speakers and Digital Speaker Modules ("DSMs") represent and a new paradigm in audio design for handheld and portable devices.

DSMs offer many benefits including substantial power savings in battery-operated devices. Moreover, they unlock a path to future innovation and improvements in audio quality not available with the traditional fixed architectures used by analog amplifiers.
